To install the UO new-style Computer Science Department front-office Xerox AltaLink C8145 printer on MacOS X, you will need to download an installer, per the process at this Service Portal page. Here is a description of the process.

Navigate to this Xerox download page with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari. Downloading the driver may fail with Mozilla Firefox

In the filters section towards the top of the page, make sure that the Platform field is set correctly to your operating system, then click the Apply Filters button.

Scroll down to the macOS Print and Scan Driver Installer section. Check the box to agree to the terms and conditions, and click the Download button.

After the DMG file has completed downloading, open the Xerox Drivers package inside to start the installer.

When the installer opens, click the Continue button until you reach the Installation Type section. Click the Install button, and if prompted, enter your Mac login information to confirm the installation.

At the Select Printer step, click the Don't See Your Printer? button on the bottom-right.

In the IP or Host Name field, enter the IP address 10.128.4.12, then click the Continue button.

The installer will then connect you to the printer. You have the option to print a test page, and you can now close the installer.

You can optionally install Xerox Print & Scan Experience, but it is not mandatory.
